Authorities say a man leaving a northern New Jersey mall after shopping with his wife was shot and later pronounced dead.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor
Carolyn A. Murray says the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Sunday at The
Mall at Short Hills when two men confronted a couple returning to their
vehicle on the second floor of a parking deck.
Murray says the husband, a
30-year-old Hudson County resident, was shot once in the head before the
men took off in his silver 2012 silver Range Rover with NJ plates
U26-BVD.
A statement from the prosecutor's
office later Sunday said that the man was pronounced dead at Morristown
Medical Center at 11:45 p.m.
The man's wife was also taken to the hospital for treatment for undisclosed injuries.
Police are searching for the couple's SUV.
Anyone who spots the vehicle or knows information about the incident should call 911
