Rendell Aims For On-Time Budget in Final Year
Now that Pa. Governor Rendell has put his last budget proposal on the table, the question is whether another marathon stalemate can be avoided as state revenues continue to lag.
While it does include a $355 million increase in the basic education subsidy for school districts, the governor’s budget proposal is not loaded with bold new spending proposals.
But that doesn’t mean it’ll be a slam dunk. Rendell’s proposal does increase overall spending by about four percent. The governor claims that for the most part, spending increases are unavoidable:
