Delaware Valley workers were hit hard by job loss during the first year of the current recession.
Sheila Watkins, regional commissioner for the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the Mid-Atlantic region, says their data show that more than 36,000 people lost their jobs in the Philadelphia metropolitan area last year. And unfortunately, workers are staying unemployed longer:
