Philly Library Talk: “It’s Not Mayor Nutter’s Fault ,” Dying Libraries Say by Van Stone vspfoundation@yahoo.com (215) 747-8746
Above: Michael Anthony Nutter, 98th Mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mayor Nutter predicted nothing greater than to improve the population enlargement of the city. He can not be expected to do that and change the course of his 2008 Budget cuts unless PA State House Lawmakers (State Reps.of Phila.) cease to become failures and immediately present finances that will sponsor dying libraries and other urban planning necessities.
No one is sure that Mayor Michael Nutter wants the SCOOP put on his desk each Friday morning. But from here on I’d like to be sure that Mayor Nutter knows we are writing about him too. Your friendly neighborhood newspaper reporter here is gonna do some hard hitting story writing on all those directly at fault for Philadelphia Library closings coming beginning January of 2009. Even if the massive library closings in Philly is delayed you can count on news columns here that will make certain local politicians having idiotic behavior want to know what the SCOOP is saying about them.
First let's talk about a no local political seat? The idiotic behavior of voting for their own higher Urban-Politician Harrisburg pay raise instead of voting for new finance laws to direct money to big city governance-library-gatekeepers should mean no political seat. And by the way, readers, I’ll tell you how I have determined that these are certain politicians having idiotic behaviors. A dying library building told me. “One who cannot develop beyond the mental age of three or four years,” is an idiot. That means, one who does not have a college degree or a job and wants to avoid both college and work by forever seeking to win whatever political seat they can in their neighborhood. Now let's view more library talk.
Who in Philly and Delco have not heard about residents extremely upset at library- gatekeeper Mayor Nutter? Mayor Nutter will close too many libraries soon making Philadelphians most likely want to flee to the suburbs. All right, here’s what’s worse. The urban-poor and kids old enough to be schooled will suffer less opportunity to improve. And by the way, if any of us smart people are not sure at just what age a child is old enough to be schooled we’re gonna suffer too because the doors of the neighborhood library will be closed forever. Did I mention all closed library buildings are to be sold to help fix the Philly budget crisis? Put the facts together to be mad as get out, at the politician at faultt. Let’s support the politician who could maybe do better. Uh, the library said something. “You made an error about who's to blame.” “I will help fix it,” said the library.
The library building says here is how city of Philly governance is set for its residents. “Mayor Nutter is not the library-gatekeeper.” In fact, no Mayor of Philly has ever been directly responsible for the financial success of public libraries. “Mayor Nutter is directly responsible for Philadelphia’s economy, as it is one of the most diverse in the United States.” Nutter is the one who must upkeep money systems going like manufacturing, commercial, and technological activities, and what goes on with tourism. Nutter must protect bridges, mass transit, highways, railroads, waterways, and airports. Nutter has a co-worker in city government, city council, who holds the condition of being self-government. City Council may also check on business of the Mayor from time to time so that citizens’ needs not fear that the Mayor behaves like an autocrat: “Absolute power.”
So, that’s why you may have seen city council members like Councilman Jones and Councilwoman Blackwell a bit argumentative over the library closings. So, who’s the library-gatekeeper? It’s none other than, the partner to Mayor Nutter in city governance. “It is our state representative.” State Representatives are set up in local neighborhoods.
They’re partners of the Mayor of a city to help guarantee urban planning that leads to increased residential values, and the movement of traveling outer city families into the inner citywide. Where the Mayor lacks in the ability to place money for libraries, public schools, numerous colleges and universities, which are important to Philly’s growing economy, the state rep is suppose to make it happen from state finances. But Philadelphia’s economic growth has slowed, compared to other cities in the United States, because growth of suburb-minded failure state reps came into the city. After their 2 years of $90,000 a year salary is up -they’re gone to the suburbs or wherever. In 2009 Philly libraries should really talk. We need State Reps that will work to make this happen and Bailout a Philly Mayor. Darryl T. Nutter Sr. contributed to this article.
