Philadelphia police have arrested one man on charges of assault during a melee that took place during a gang vandalism spree late last month near Broad and South Streets.
Twenty-one year old Stephen Lyde (above) was arrested at his home in West Philadelphia on Friday morning and charged with numerous offenses in connection with the May 30th attack against a 54-year-old man at Broad and South.
Capt. Laurence Nodiff (right) says that Lyde was one of about eight young men who ambushed the victim as he rode his bicycle home from work.
"They beat him to the ground, brutally beat him to unconsciousness, and then robbed him. They then fled, leaving him on the ground bleeding and unconscious. He was then transported to Hahnemann Hospital by fire department medics, where he is still hospitalized."
